Paul Crompton's story

Paul, a Bayside resident for over 50 years is a quiet achiever who has made a significant contribution, not just to art but to our community.

His time at Ansett: Paul spent 25 years at Ansett and as project manager was in charge of the construction of three simulator facilities, the Computer Centre, the Supply Building and the Engine Overhaul Workshop in Melbourne as well as a Training Centre in Tamworth.

It was during this period at Ansett that he created his magnificent “Ansett Collection ” of some 40 paintings of Ansett aircraft and helicopters operated by the company in their first 60 years.

Paul Crompton’s Community service

Paul makes a difference to our community. For example, he is a committee member of Beaumaris men’s shed and one of their many projects was the design and construction of “surprise boxes” for dementia patients. He has also made honour boards for Black Rock House and videos for Beaumaris Probus. He has been active with Blaze Aid helping repair fences for fire victims. For the RSL he donated paintings of Vietnam war action which were displayed at the Shrine. For Victoria Golf Club where he has been a member for 30 years, Paul has donated a painting that is displayed proudly in the main lobby. There is so much more.

Time to sell his Artworks

Paul stopped painting about 15 or so years ago and his 80+ beautiful artworks remained unseen in his studio.

In 2021, a family health scare made Paul decide to ‘declutter.”

Paul asked Neighbourhood Watch 3193 to donate his artworks to charity. When we saw his artworks, we were amazed at their quality and suggested to Paul, that rather than give his paintings away, we hold a Retrospective. Funds generated could then be distributed as Paul wishes. One charity Paul wishes to support is Defence Community Dogs. A charity that supports Defence personnel with PTSD by supplying them with therapy dogs. Visit https://dcdogs.com.au/
